dancing goat coffee came to us with a site nobody wanted. tucked beneath the escalator of arkan mall, it was the kind of space that gets passed over. angular, compressed, structurally awkward. we saw something else entirely.

we started with kaldi. the ethiopian goatherd who, centuries ago, noticed his goats dancing after eating from a certain tree and followed his curiosity all the way to the discovery of coffee. his story is one of shelter, instinct, and finding something extraordinary in an overlooked place. that felt exactly right.

so we built him a cocoon. not a café that announces itself, but one that pulls you in. the escalator soffit stayed exposed, its diagonal slice becoming the defining gesture of the space. carving the interior into a tight, focused bar zone at one end and an open, breathing social floor at the other. the further you move in, the more the ceiling lifts, the more the space exhales.

the bar runs wall to wall. the preparation spine behind it is long and deliberate. seating folds across three moments: a tiled bench inside, another at the building edge, and a terrace that spills out into the plaza and catches the light.

one material holds everything together. stucco across every ceiling, wall, and joinery face. seamless, unhurried. brick tile starts at the floor and climbs onto both benches as if it grew there. stainless steel cuts through at the bar and shelving, cooler and sharper against the warmth of everything else. a full length mirror wall throws the escalator structure back into the room and makes the space feel twice what it is.

it is a café built in an overlooked corner, by someone who once discovered coffee in an overlooked field. that felt like the only honest way to do it.
